Monte Carlo Classic Rally Back At Glasgow
Mr. Aitken Walker former rally champion heads the rally in the Austin Healey replica to start the Monte Carlo Classic Rally 2011 with other competitors from behind at Glasgow. This 51 years old on the wheels of Austin Healey 3000″ (replica) is surely an inspiration to the other competitors in this rally.
Mr. Walker leads the track with many all set eager competitors who are ready for competition. This rally is happening after 38 years and is in full swing with attracting more competitors as well as visitors.
Forty nine classic car aficionados are taking part in this two day 2190 miles rally. These competitors are from different parts of the world. This rally begins at the Blythswood Square.
Mr. Walker who was a competitor in the 1983 and 1990 race commented that “this is one of the toughest rallies. Glasgow earlier hosted this event in the year 1973. This year the rally is back in Glasgow and will surely set a blaze”.

This is one of the best platforms for all drivers who have a craze for classic car rally. This rally hosts some of the very unique classic cars which are very rear to find.
Mr. Douglas Anderson, member of Glasgow start committee is one of the competitors in this rally and is much exited to have a grip on his restored car on the track.
Mr. Douglas owns a Triumph Herald Coupe a rally car from the 60’s . He said “competitors from all over the world have to go through snowy and frosty Alps and then finally climb sown to the Monte Carlo. This is all about stamina and the reliability of car.
Most of the cars are from the 50’s and 60’s. These old cars are completely reliable as these cars are basically rally cars from the past.
Mr. Douglas was inspired by the Monte Carlo rallies from his childhood and so he decided to give it a try this year because of its adventure thrilled tracks and even because of the glamorous part of it.
Mr. Douglas said “he planned for almost 2 years now to get here and finally I have succeeded.
Mr. Aitken Walker was asked to drive off the track the celebrity car. He said he was really pleased for making him drive the celebrity car. Aitken also added that Glsgow is the main hub for all motorsports in Scotland.
All the cars were on display early in the day at George Square before the rally was kick started.
